Bolt Action - Cancon Charity Raffle - The Results

Over the Cancon gaming convention weekend held on the 28th and 29th of January 2017, the Bolt Action Alliance held a charity raffle to raise money to support Soldier On. The raffle consisted of two prizes. A rather large LRDG force, and a Fallschirmjäger force based on the invasion of Crete. I had painted up both of these forces and donated them to the raffle as my way of giving support to a worthy cause.

Soldier On is a great cause and close to my heart. I served for just over a decade in the Australian military and have a number of mates who have been supported through some hard times by these guys - "Soldier On supports those who have served by focusing on their physical and mental health, their community and their future. We have assisted thousands as they have dealt with physical and psychological wounds from their service". To me this event was a chance to give something back to Soldier On so that they can help more servicemen in whatever way they need.

I had documented the painting of the LRDG over a period of time and wrote a few articles about them which I had hoped would help promote them as a potential prize. The articles can be found here and here, and a step by step process found here on our Facebook page. While less heavily written about there are some step by step photos of the Fallschirmjäger here as well.

There were also a number of companies that really helped out, Adam from Dice Of War donated a fantastic dice bag and some LRDG dice and Viv from Knights of Dice donated custom made travel foam for both armies. I encourage you to check out both the amazing Australian companies as they are really supportive of the community and produce great products.

I also need to make mention that Jakob kindly donated custom made para drops and a Hetzer and Daryll provided a glider as well as generously donating the bulk of the Fallschirmjäger.

So how did we do? Well I transferred a total of $3190 to Soldier On as a result of ticket sales which is an excellent result. Doc from Rockhampton in Queensland won the Fallschirmjäger and Jakob from Sweden won the LRDG, congratulations to you both gentlemen.

I am already planning next years event, so stay tuned if you want a chance to win one of my armies!
