Bolt Action - Old Man Morin's Commonwealth Indian Army Showcase

It is Australia Day week Down Under and that, for countless war-gamers, means one thing. The pilgrimage to Canberra and Cancon! While just about everyone else in the Bolt Action Alliance crew is off playing for fun and glory in this year's, 42-player event, I am holding down the fort back in Melbourne town. As this was the army that won last year's event, I thought it would be appropriate to pull it out for a few army showcase pictures.  

The infantry in the army was painted by The LRDG's own phenomenally talented Warlord Tobu many moons ago. The models themselves are a combination of the Artisan Designs Indian range and Warlord Games miniatures (using their optional Sikh heads sprue). The Gurkha Squad is from the Assault Group's Britain in the East Range. Though my infantry come from a fairly diverse range of companies, the models really come together as one coherent force once painted and based. I painted the vehicle and artillery models for this army and as the pictures appear I will mention which model ranges they were pillaged from to find the right match for this project.

Bolt Action - Indian Army Project - Part 1

The forces of the British Empire where compiled of men and women from all over the globe.  Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Indians, Ghurkas, and Sikhs, to name a few, all fought against the forces of Japan and Germany.  With more than 2.5 million men under arms, the Indian Army was the largest volunteer army in the history of humanity.  While most people remember the men who fought with Sikh and  Ghurka regiments, there is very little attention paid to the average India soldier who fought in places like Ethiopia, the Middle East, Burma, India, North Africa, Italy and Greece.  By wars end, more than 70,000 Indians were killed or wounded.  Indian troops served with honor, with 4,000 of them receiving awards for bravery, including 38 Victoria Crosses.

Bolt Action - Scratch Building A Blacker Bombard

Hey gang,

One of the things that I love about Bolt Action, after years of play, is finding weird little entries for vehicles and units in "The Armies of..." books that I had skipped over when creating lists for armies. This has been especially true in my last couple of armies where I have intentionally gone out of my way to find entries and unit types that I have never used before. Well, thanks to DaveOwaR, I have found a new unit for my Indian troops that I must have read past 100 times when reading the British book. The Blacker Bombard. Bolt Action - Review: Mad Bob Miniatures Indian Carrier

Hey Kids,


Old Man Morin here.  I took a break from painting my DAK motor pool to paint... More desert vehicles (I think I have a problem).
