Bolt Action: Full scale model wars

Full scale model wars
Quite some time ago I participated in an event and I noticed that two of the players were using some tanks that seemed a little on the large side. Melbourne's favorite French sons Julian and Enzo had come out to play and they had bought some 1:48 scale tanks. Initially I had a kind of reservation about using a larger scale, after all 1:48 is a lot bigger than 1:56 and therefore harder to transport, easier for your enemy to shoot at and easier to break as 1:48 tends to be an actual model as opposed to a toy. But then I noticed the exquisite detail these models offer as well as the fact that your models actually look like they could fit inside the tank.

Bolt Action - Trenchworx M4A1 76mm Sherman Review

Hello, everyone! Seamus here with a review for your perusal. I recently picked up a resin kit from Trenchworx, grabbing a M4A1 76mm Sherman to add to my nascent U.S. armored platoon. This is my second Trenchworx kit, but one that I really paid attention to as I built it after tearing through the Jagdpanther kit with reckless glee without taking pictures.

Bolt Action - Trenchworx 'Tanks of the Western Front' Kickstarter interview

By Casey

Hey guys! It’s Casey here. I recently had the chance to sit down and talk with Nate from Trenchworx about their newest Kickstarter, “Tanks on the Western Front”, but before I get into that, here’s a quick introduction about me and my love affair with Bolt Action.

Shortly after high school I joined the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman and got to see the world. While in the military I was introduced to Warhammer 40,000. I ended up with quite a few miniatures but as you know, life gets in the way and I never really got around to playing an actual game. That left me with a drive to play a miniatures game but I was never able to find the right one. Fast forward to last year - while scrolling through a  friend's Facebook feed, I saw some pics of his Bolt Action Soviets and was instantly hooked. I have always had a intense interest in World War II so after some googling and a few YouTube videos, my first army was on its way. Shortly thereafter I was able to get a demo with the infamous Oscar “Sugary Sweet” Barela. After that I was in hooked. Now a little over a year later, I own half a dozen armies, organize events here in Texas, and still can't wait to throw dice with friends new and old. Enough about me though, on to Nate at Trenchworx and some information about their newest Kickstarter..

Bolt Action - Review: Trenchworx T34/76

By Patch

Our friends at Trenchworx recently ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to launch a new range of 1/56 scale vehicles based on  Japanese and Soviets forces from their battles around Manchuria.  This comes on the back of another successful Kickstarter where the focus was on WW1 machines instead. I went in for 6 vehicles (three Russian and three Japanese) and had them delivered on time, which is a massive bonus on what can be a gamble when pledging money to a Kickstarter funded campaign.

The three Russian tanks I ordered were the T-34/76, the BT-7 and the T-26 (from a much wider range available) as I am building an early war Soviet force based around the Battle for Moscow and these vehicles fit with that period nicely. Knowing the quality of product that Trenchworx puts out I was not surprised when they arrived and were just top notch stuff.

Bolt Action - The Dreaded Einstossflammenwerfer- What IS It?

As World World War 2 ground on and Germany's relentless advance ground to half, the German military started mass producing weapons of last resort that if mass produced could stop Allied forces in their tracks and once again turn the tide of the war. Weapons such as the larger panzerfausts, the MP 3008 (the German copy of the British Sten gun), and the first assault rifles (and their cheap knock offs) started being issued to civilians and front line units alike. One of these last ditch weapons followed in the philosophy of the panzerfaust. The cheap and easy to make panzerfaust gave lowly infantry a much needed anti-tank bite against allied armour. Hoping to give inexperienced troops a similar advantage against enemy forces (especially in urban environments) the Germans developed the einstossflammenwerfer.

Bolt Action - Review: Trenchworx T-28

Hey Gang,

For those of you following The Tanks in Manchuria Kickstarter, you may be asking about Trenchworx, the company running the project. We at Boltaction.net have watched Trenchworx start out as a 3D printing hobby project on our forums and evolve over time into the maker of some truly beautiful resin kits. A little while ago I got my paws on their new T28 kit and it has taken me a little time to get it done and I am glad to share my thoughts about this glorious monster of a tank.

Bolt Action - Review: Trenchworx Resin BT-42

A few weeks ago, Old Man Morin did an article on painting white wash (here) in which he also spoke about the BT-42 made by Trenchworx.  His BT-42 was one of the early 3D printed versions, while today's article is on the new resin versions that Nate aka. RapidMonkey, is churning out at Trenchworx.

Bolt Action - How to Paint White Wash The Old Man Morin Way

Welcome back gang,

Old Man Morin here with a look at how I paint dirty, warn Winter War tanks. Now if you missed it earlier, Judson also wrote an article a few weeks back on the same topic though his methods are very different from mine. You can find his great article here.

Now as many of you know I have been chipping away at a Finn army for quite some time now. My newest addition is the formidable (on the Bolt Action table anyway) BT-42. Trenchworx makes an excellent kit for this tank. Up until recently it was 3D printed and was pricey BUT rejoice!!! It is now out in resin, for a fraction of the cost. The model I am painting today is the 3D printed one (I couldn't help myself) but I look forward to seeing the resin kit in person (I have one in the mail).

Bolt Action - OXI- Greek Army Project Part 3 - Armor Support

A quick update on the progress of my Greek army.  I added some armored support to force in the form of FT-17 tanks from Trenchworx.  These Great War relics saw limit service in the Greek army, so limited it is unclear if they actually saw combat against the Axis.  Regardless there were several in Greek service and so I added two to my Greek army.

Bolt Action - Review: Trenchworx Mk V

At Historicon this year I was lucky enough to win a brand new TrenchWorx MkV WW1 British tank. This busty beauty is part of TrenchWorx current Kickstarter campaign that's now speeding along with the momentum of Brad after a bottle of tequila. Although I had not delved into World War One gaming before, when it came my time to saunter up to the prize table I knew the beauty I had my eye on.

Bolt Action - Review: Trenchworx - Tanks of WW1 Kickstarter

Our friends at Trenchworx have an awesome Kickstarter going on right now.  For those of you who don't know Trenchworx has been 3D printing models for a while.  The costs for Trenchworx models range from reasonable to high, due to the cost associated with 3D printing.  With this new Kickstarter Trenchworx plans on taking 3D printed models and casting them so they can make resin versions of their tanks to help bring the price down.  The 3D printing process cuts modeling time significantly.  This allows Trenchworx to very quickly design their models on a computer.  This is Trenchworx first Kickstarter and they are starting with World War One tanks.  While some of these will not work in the current Bolt Action system,  it definitely work if you plan on adapting WW1 to Bolt Action.
