Partner Picks

Once again a pick of some of the best articles from our WWPD Partners.

Anatolis Game Room

First up is Anatoli and his many fantastic articles of By Fire and Sword - I honestly think the publishers of this game should hire him to be the PR guy, as he's done an outstanding job pushing the game and made it appealing even to me, who has no interest in the era.

Aurelius Legion - Basing tutorial
I loved this tutorial so much I'll be giving it a go myself.

WWPD Partner Picks- December 9th 2012

There's been quite a lot going on since our last update!  This time of year has been incredibly busy for all of us with many real life endeavors all culminating at once.  I spent more nights away from home in November than at home!  Hopefully after the Holidays calm down we can get back to some sense of normalcy.  Thank you all for bearing with us- we know the podcasts have been a bit sporadic, but surprisingly it can be very difficult getting 3 busy dudes together for a few hours reliably!

Anyhow, thankfully there's plenty of awesome people producing great content.  This post will focus on 3 of my favorite blogs and some great new content from all of them!

WWPD Partner Picks Nov 17 2012

Hi guys!  I've been away for a few days so I am just now catching up on reading your wonderful blogs.  I realized it'd been a while since a partner pick so decided I'd throw one of those posts together right quick!

Kampfgruppe Peiper vs JagdPanthers and Grenadiers in Encounter by Covering Fire.  Even though it's a "red" on "red" (which I usually don't care for) the pictures in this one are quite good!  The painted ME262 is awesome!  Kudos to our friends at Covering Fire.  I also always like seeing Batrepper in use in the wild!  The painting is great, as is the terrain.

Dropzone Commander- Factions Overview by IttyBitty Soldiers.  Our buddy Scott S has been posting a ton of DZC on our forum lately.  To be quite honest, he's just about fully convinced me to dive into Dropzone Commander!  If you've been even the least bit curious, check out his recent faction overview that goes into the fluff and explains the different factions in a nice summary.

I really like the PHR and the UCM, and you just may see me painting some up in the near future!

Winterizing Soviet T-34s by dice Devils.  Jon posted a tutorial a few days back about winterizing some T34s- it seems like winterizing is all the rage lately!  I like the look of it, but have no real desire to winterize anything myself. Anyhow, there's a cool video there about winterizing a test model that I think a lot of people will find useful!

As a bonus, check out the pics of the IS-2s posted up before the video!

1000 points of Dystopian Wars French on Wargames and Painting
While Big Gazza's excellent painting blog is not technically part of the WWPD Network, BG is OG as it were, and his painting was too amazing not to show you!  Big Gazza's painting rightly graces the pages of the Bolt Action rule book, and his painting is second to none.

From the article: Didn't want to go for a historic 'Dazzle' pattern or copy the colour scheme from the box so I invented this new scheme with 4 bands of grey on the larger ships that get lighter to wards the front or at the water line of the ships.

Tank Aces at The War Altar
Our friends across the pond in Ireland take us through the start of a Tank Aces event held at their club.  This post has some really great "historical information" to accompany the Flames of War battle report.  The organizers report..."We knew we have our six club FoW players, regardless, but were delighted to gain six brand new players. The faction split was heavily in favour of the Axis, so I switched to an Allied army. Goodbye, sweet Fearless Trained King Tigers, we'll meet again. I swear it."

Game of Thrones CCG Review at Anatoli's Game Room
Anatoli takes an in-depth look at this collectible card game based on the popular books and HBO series by George R. R. Martin.  Anatoli goes into great depth and detail about the game, reviewing production quality, game mechanics and of course how fun it the game is!  This post and game are certainly both worth taking a look at.

Dispatches from the Front AAR: Dust Up
This ARR features a classic match-up that is much the craze these days:  M10s vs Panther.  The battle has customized lists based on what was available - just have fun with it, guys!  "The battle starts with the Panzer platoons moving forward at the double while the mortars dig in. Slightly disturbed by the sight of a lot of tanks advancing at speed, the Task Force opted to spread out with one Destroyer platoon trying to move round to the left flank while the second Destroyer platoon tried to move around the right flank."

Phil on World War Two: Montie's Pythons at Montesano Sulla Marcellana
Phil's regular force (Montie's Pythons) trades in their Brit armor to assist the Americans.  Fighting in Italy, the troops have "... have been assigned the job giving the Fish-Slapping Dance to an Italian Battalion near Montesano sulla Marcellana that had refused their country's orders to surrender."  It's not often you see Fucilieri on the board, especially not ones that can give yanks the business!

WWPD Partner Picks for September 1st, 2012

Steven made the mistake of giving me the keys to the car this week! Here are MY partner picks:

Frozen Gamer AK: DUST Warfare Review Review
Our man Craig Baxter takes and in-depth look at DUST Warfare. He has full information on the figures, and answers a ton of question I had about the game. Craig does a great job of going into the background of the game, gameplay and the future of DUST Warfare.

Break Through Assault: Carentan House Review
Since the Carentan house is so similar to the Calais house, we decided not to do a full on review on WWPD (see our Calais House review here).  Thankfully, we have Ben from Breakthrough Assault to step up to the plate!  He takes a good look at the 2nd house in the "House of the Month Club" from Battlefront.  I must say, the two houses do look good side by side- a nice little village is starting to form!

WWPD Partner Picks for August 11th, 2012

Frozen Gamer AK: Battlefront Stuarts
Our buddy Craig Baxter puts together 5 Battlefront M5A1 Stuarts, Lead by the ghost of their namesake.  With a well done homage to the Ghost Tank, and a convincing paint job on the unruly wraith, Craig's post is great fun!  Make sure to watch the FPSRussia video he's included.  Now I want some White Castle.  Actually, now that I think about... no I don't.  That place sucks.

Dispatches From the Front: Panzer Brigade 101

Lots of great WIP and final pictures of a Panzer Brigade being constructed and painted.  Some really great paint jobs on these guys!  Good tutorial to follow if you plan to paint a whole mess of panthers for yourself.

Da Gamer's Table: Home Made Stowage Rolls
This tutorial on making stowage rolls, camo tarps, and other various gypsy-like sundries to hang on your tanks is very good... but it's the 2 Soviet Soldiers urging you on in the captions that make this a standout piece!  Thanks Brendon for the great tutorial and some solid laughs!

WWPD Partner Picks for August 4th, 2012!

Welcome to a new series of articles that we'll be posting most Saturdays!  In this series we're going to prowl the WWPD Network Partners to bring you the content that we thought was interesting, insightful, funny, or just plain bizarre!  So to kick things off, let's pick 3!  Interested in joining the network?

Anatoli's Polish R35 Company
Anatoli is all about researching the Polish forces in the Blitzkrieg era for Flames of War.  If you haven't seen his September campaign yet, do yourself a favor and look it over!  Here, Anatoli has assembled a company comprised of 10 R35s representing the 21st Light Tank Company, one of 5 new tank companies forthcoming in his September Campaign v.2 campaign book!

Throck of War: Historicon 2012
The dudes over at Throck of War discuss their experiences at Historicon 2012!  With plenty of great pictures from the various setups and commentary to match, this is a comprehensive look at the convention!  Of particular interest is the 54mm scale FOW game "for the kids".

Dice Devil's Historicon Video Coverage
Okay!  I promise this is the last you'll hear about Historicon from us!  We just had such a great time that we want to share it with the world.  "Matt Varnish" over at Dice Devils took a ton of video.  So check it out and see what it was all about!
