Some Recent Board Gaming

Recently, Lydia and I have been having some regular board game nights with our friends Nate and Nikki.  They're huge board gamers and have introduced us to a ton of great games.  I'm not going to go too in depth here, but will give a brief overview of the games we've played with them so far!  I've played several other board games outside of this group, so expect more updates along these lines and of course on the podcast!

A Quick Look at the Falaise House

Having purchased the Battlefront house subscription, I was pleasantly surprised when my 3rd house showed up.  We skipped the last house since it was so similar to the first one, but since this one had a new texture and a new color palette, I figured it'd be neat to do a quick unboxing and see what it looks like next to the others.  Read on!

Bolt Action - Infantry Explosion (Plus New Lister!)

In its current, one-book state, our handy Bolt Action rulebook tells us that our forces must contain one infantry platoon. So no matter what list you're making, that means you're going to spend some points on infantry - at least two squads and a lieutenant, to be precise. That being the case, you've gotta' put a little thought into exactly what your little men are going to carry into battle.

The ending battle in Saving Private Ryan taught me that I should pick the helmet as my weapon. Throw!

Sentinel Miniatures 15mm Church

Greeting from the Left Coast

Today for review is my first major terrain piece for my game table. For some time now I have been trying to find building for my table and have been lucky enough to have received the first two houses from Battlefront. However, I was in need of central terrain piece to build my French town around. Lucky for me, my friend Peter shot me an email one day with some building he had picked up from a local studio: Sentinel Miniature

Winter T-34 Tutorial

As you all have heard, our buddy Grumpus on the WWPD Forums shipped us a bunch of his extra stuff to see if we could use any.  There were a mess of Battlefront T-34s in the mix, so I decided to paint these guys up for winter.  I really wanted to try to paint some white-washed tanks, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity.  I think this might have been a New Year's Resolution for me as well, eh?

Eureka Infantry (Partisan Company by Bob)

Another guest post by Bob 696- thanks Bob!

I have yet to read many reviews of Eureka 15mm miniatures and as I had bought some a few years ago I thought it was about time for them to be noticed a little more.

I have always wanted an east front partisan company in 15mm. I spent a great deal of time searching and eventually I found the Eureka range from Australia and a stockist in the UK to boot (fighting 15s) so despite the hefty price tag (more on that later) I bought some.

M24 Chaffees! (UBX33)

Ever since I saw The Bridge at Remagen many years ago, I've had a certain affinity for the M24 Chaffee.  At the time I watched the movie, long before I knew the ridiculous amounts of tedious WWII equipment knowledge I have now, I didn't realize the M24 was actually WWII vintage.  I assumed that the movie, like a lot of other movies made at the time, used more modern vehicles.  When I first discovered that the movie was actually historically accurate (...at least in terms of vehicles...), I couldn't wait until Chaffees were available for Flames of War!

Bolt Action - AAR: Germans vs Americans: Demolition

Recently I traveled to Maine to practice running our Bolt Action game for Fall-In with Dano. Some of the guys from the area generously volunteered (suckers!) to be our test subjects. We decided we wanted to run a game where both players need to advance on an objective - Demolition fit the bill!

The Germans and Americans square-off, a ruined village dividing them. The small buildings in their deployment zones are the objectives.

Somethin' Else Sunday - FTL: Faster Than Light

I know we don't usually do 'Vidyo Gaims' around here, but Steve and I have been playing this so much we'd have nothing else to write about anyway!

The name of the game is FTL: Faster Than Light. You can find their website here.
