Today we'll take a look at the MDF Dropzone Commander terrain from Blotz.
I ordered the stock "L-Shaped" building. Shipping was pretty quick to the U.S. - maybe two weeks. Assembly took about an hour. Standard MDF building setup - lots of flat packed wood that assembles quickly with white glue.
It painted up pretty quickly. I airbrushed two shades of grey to give it some modulation, and painted the 3d parts a dark metallic color.
Here you can see the Blotz building compared to one of Hawk's resin buildings.
I added some of Hawk's resin roofing bits to the top to give the top some more texture.
I also decided to "moss it up" a little bit. Give it that abandoned overgrown look.
And the building with some infantry stands for scale.
All in all, I think the Blotz buildings are a great buy. They are lightyears easier to assemble than the Hawk resin buildings, fit in pretty well with them, and are a fraction of the price. My only complaint with them is a lot of the detail pieces come on a "sprue", and can be a pain to "punch out", often damaging some of the bits in the process. But that's nothing that can't be covered up with some moss =)
It was only a matter of time before one of the bajllion MDF laser terrain guys in the UK started making DZC terrain, and I'm glad that day has arrived.
