SS Tigers vs US 3rd ID in Domination

Joe and I had a good ol' fashioned FOW throwdown today. I sat down one night and made a 20 German lists I'd like to run, so I could roll a d20 to randomly determine what I run. Today was the first time I used that list rolling a 19- SS Tigers!

Joe was running his Dogs and Devils US Rifle company, and the board was suitably Italian in nature to make at least a bit of sense. It's not often that I run a tiger company, so I was glad to have rolled it.

SS TIGERS
HQ 1x Tiger IE (Skills: Schnell, For the Fatherland)
2x Tiger IE (For the Fatherland)
2x Tiger IE (Clever Hans)
4x Panzer IV H (Heer: Confident Vet)
SS Scout Patrol (2 sections)

DOGS AND DEVILS
HQ + 2 bazookas
Assault Platoon
Rifle Platoon
Weapons Platoon
Mortar Platoon
5x M4 Shermans
4x M10 TD

We also randomly rolled for the mission coming up with "Domination". After dividing the points up into 5 "2"s and 2 "1"s, we placed them in a mutually agreeable position, and got started with the game!

Deployment. Reds represent 2 points, white chips are 1. There is an additional red chip on the southern bridge underneath the lead tiger. Panzer IV Hs are on the very right, just out of frame.

The US forces from top left to right are: Assault Platoon, Mortars & Shermans, Weapons mortars underneath Joe's arm, Rifles, and M10s. SS Tigers have the first turn.

The Company Command and 1st platoon deploy in the center.

2nd Platoon deploys atop the craggy hill.

Panzer IV Hs deploy all the way to the right.

M10s hide behind some woods.

Mortars and Shermans.

The Assault Platoon.

TURN ONE

The Tigers roll out!

The German right flank comes alive as Tigers and Panzer IVs rush forward.

A Panzer IV adopts a hull down position on the mountain.

Joe's Shermans roll out

Both of Joe's mortar platoons dig in.

The rifle platoon moves out.

TURN TWO

Panzer IV Hs roll out with MGs blazing.

Tiger's move up to face down the Shermans.

Dogs succesfully napped during the entire battle.

Look Sir, I got one!

Actually, an M10 snuck around and popped a tiger from the side!

COMBAT CASUALTY SUMMARY

US Rifle Platoon: 1
GERMAN 1st SS Tiger platoon: 1 tank destroyed

TURN THREE

Panzer IVs and Tigers move up and knock out 2 M10s.

The HQ and remaining SS Tiger of 1st platoon pop 2 Shermans.

COMBAT CASUALTY SUMMARY

US Rifle Platoon: 1
US Sherman Platoon: 2 tanks destroyed
US Tank Destroyer Platoon: 2 M10s destroyed
GERMAN 1st SS Tiger platoon: 1 tank destroyed

TURN FOUR

Tigers pursue the two remaining M10s, and bail one out.

Panzer IVs open up with their main cannons, knocking out a bazooka team!

The HQ and 1 SS Tiger move up to harass the Shermans.

The Assault platoon captures some high ground overlooking the town.

US Rifle Platoon: 2
US Sherman Platoon: 2 tanks destroyed
US Tank Destroyer Platoon: 2 M10s destroyed, 1 bailed
GERMAN 1st SS Tiger platoon: 1 tank destroyed

TURN FIVE

Tigers knock out a Sherman as they attempt to relocate. The remaining 2 Shermans fail motivation and skeedaddle. Minus one US platoon.

Another M10 is wiped out. The bailed tank destroyer fights on!

The SS recon in the town open up with their squad MGs, knocking out 2 stands from the assault platoon!

COMBAT CASUALTY SUMMARY

US Rifle Platoon: 2
US Assault Platoon: 2
US Sherman Platoon: PLATOON DESTROYED
US Tank Destroyer Platoon: 3 M10s destroyed, 1 bailed
GERMAN 1st SS Tiger platoon: 1 tank destroyed

TURN SIX

Panzer IV Hs charge forward, MGs blazing and knock out Joe's Commanding Officer!

Continued fire from the SS Scouts knock out two more stands from the Assault Platoon.

Finally the last M10 goes up in smoke.

Panzer IVs prepare to assault.

The Panzer IV assault goes off without a hitch- no one bogs, and the bazooka bounces off the schurtzen!

Joe fails to counter attack.

In Joe's turn, he tries desperately to assault the Panzer IVs, fails motivation. With the rifle platoon at half strength and 4 tigers about to rampage through his 2 mortar platoons Joe knows his company is about to be below half strength, and with no Company Commander he will auto-break. Joe decided discretion is the better part of valor and calls the game.

FINAL CASUALTY SUMMARY

US Rifle Platoon: 2
US Assault Platoon: 2
US Sherman Platoon: PLATOON DESTROYED
US Tank Destroyer Platoon: 3 M10s destroyed, 1 bailed
GERMAN 1st SS Tiger platoon: 1 tank destroyed
