Battlefield in a Box Oil Tanks Review

I am going to be putting a short series of reviews of Battlefront's new modern building line for play with Team Yankee

Battlefield In A Box has been a very good line of accessories for Battlefront's game systems.  They do not have to be used exclusively for Flames of War or Team Yankee, however, and may be used with any 15mm system.

Today we will be taking a look at Oil Tanks.  The product code is BB190 and it retails for $29.00 USD.

The box contains two fully painted oil tanks 3" tall and 4" in diameter.

One would think that an  oil tank would be just a plain cylinder.  There is actually a surprising amount of detail on this building.  Please note the panels on the oil tank as well as the ladder.  For me the ladder is the defining piece of detail that separates this Battlefield In A Box piece and Battle Front's competitors.  It is raised off the oil tank to give such a simple piece of terrain, additional depth and detail.

Recap and final analysis:

So for $29.00 for two building pieces is a good price.  The models are great for what they are and the price you pay.  The color of the oil tanks is a very light grey so they are pretty bland for the table top, however I found multiple examples online of oil tanks in Germany and in the real world they too are surprisingly unremarkably plain.  (See below)  What I most like about this piece is that it is different from what we have seen before for Flames of War.  It is a unique piece of terrain and for $29.00 and in combination with other pieces you create a very diverse landscape for your gaming table.  I have been looking at possibly finding some kind of sticker or print out with a German oil company name to put on the side for a little extra touch.  The oil tanks are made from resin and appear to be very durable.

I would recommend this purchase, and as I stated above, in conjunction with other pieces of the new modern line you get a great looking table.  Do we have a ratings system?  Well I will simply give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars primarily for the simplicity of the piece that still adds diversity to your table and the fair cost of the product.
