I was eager to get my new CR42 Falcos on the board, and simultaneously wanted to test a tournament build for my Italians. I talked Sean into taking Churchills since I knew they would be tough for me to face. We randomly rolled for mission and came up with Frontline Domination.

| Sean's 8th Army Motor Infantry:Churchills and Stuarts arrive. Most everyone holds position except one motor platoon advances in the left. Steven's Italian Bersaglieri:Everyone stays put, except for the arriving M14s and Semoventes. No planes this turn as it's night. | |
TURN 2
Semoventes are out of frame to the left.
British Motor infantry continues advancing
Stuarts race forward, ready to dig into the Italian flanks
Churchills spread out but advance cautiously.
25 pounders rain fire on the Cannons, but do no lasting damage.
M14s roll forward with MGs blazing, slamming into the motor infantry in the palm grove.
Semoventes swing wide. (sorry for the blurry pic!)
Bi planes make their one and only sortie of the game!
They hit both a churchill and an HMG- both fail their save! I then roll 2 "1"s for firepower. Bummer.

| Sean's 8th Army Motor Infantry:Stuarts, Churchills, and motor infantry continue to advance. 25 pounders barrage the cannons, but do no real damage. Steven's Italian Bersaglieri:M14s drive forward MGing infantry. Semoventes hook wide. Biplanes fail spectacularly. Mortars smoke the 25 pounders. | |
TURN 3
Semoventes, again, are just off camera to the left.
Stuarts make a bold move!
Churchills let loose on the Semoventes!
The Stuarts knock out 2 M14s and bail another.
Despite a torrent of 6 pounder fire, only one Semovente is bailed!
Then the 25 pounders join in and 2 more are bailed.
Smoke again drops on the 25 pounders, but this time 2 are left exposed. Elefentinos open up and knock one out!
All but one of the Semoventes remount and book it forward!
Elefentinos tear apart one Stuart and bail the other.
M14s also return fire, but do no more damage!

|
| Sean's 8th Army Motor Infantry:Churchills and 25 pounders try to take down the Semoventes, but can't bring it home. Stuarts aggressively go after the M14s, nearly putting the platoon below half! The recon is a no show. Steven's Italian Bersaglieri:Elefentinos shine this turn, knocking out a Stuart and a 25 pounder. Semoventes push into British territory. | |
TURN 4
As usual, Semoventes off frame to the left.
Churchills decide to press on rather than turn back to deal with the Semoventes.
With the 1 dead Stuart being the platoon leader, the 2iC risks life and limb to appoint a new one.
But unfortunately, the M14s and Elefentinos finish off the Stuarts.
Semoventes move up to open fire on the HMGs holding a valuable 2 point objective.

TURN 5
The situation. Note that Italian Mortars continually keepthe 25 pounders smoked.
Churchills rumble on!
Motor Infantry assault the M14s as one has strayed close enough to be denied defensive fire.
25 pounders try to stop the Semoventes, but do no damage.
Churchills open up on the Bersaglieri, knocking out an HMG team.
In a surprise move, the HMG platoon commander assaults the Semoventes!
With fairly predictable results. Still, Sean knew the HMGs were going to get it next turn anyways!
The Motor infantry gets through the defensive fire, but takes heavy casualties!
The heroic 2iC knocks out a tank!
The 2 remaining M14s pull back to within range of the CiC.
The M14s and the CiC (and 2iC who had to attach to form the chain) all run away!
The Semoventes light up the HMG platoon, wiping it out entirely.
The Cannons tear into the 25 pounders, and wipe out the platoon!

| Sean's 8th Army Motor Infantry:Motor infantry rush forward and finish off the M14s! Steven's Italian Bersaglieri:Semoventes knock out the HMGs, while cannons wipe out the 25 pounder battery. | |
At this point, we've been playing for a while. The game isn't definitely over, and it could still swing either way, But sean is 1 platoon away from half strength (and he has a 3 man motor platoon within assault range of a full strength Bersaglieri unit). His Churchills could make some progress in the center, but it's not likely he could either grab enough objectives or break my company before I could break his. Sean decides to call it in my favor, but I am reluctant to accept it when so much could still happen.
