Panzers vs US Tanks in Italy (MW)

Tom wanted to get a game in before the MW Nationals. I obliged by taking my "runner up" list. I almost took these panzers instead of Armored Rifles.

The mission is Dust Up.

Steven's Panzerkompanie: I start with my big Panzer IV platoon, panzergrenadiers, and my Panzer III platoon.

Tom's US Tank Company: Tom starts with ARs, M10s, and 1 platoon of Stuarts






TURN 1


Panzers roll out, but 2 get caught on the fence



Panzers cautiously approach the vineyard



Tom springs his M10s immediately



But can't pass a firepower check to save his life.

      Steven's Panzerkompanie: The big Panzer IV platoon along with the C/O roll out to probe the Americans

      Tom's US Tank Company: Stuarts and M10s come out swinging leaving 2 German tanks bailed.

      Turn 2



      Panzers all pull back, mostly getting out of range of the M10s.



      They knock out one stuart on the way.



      The Germans put ground between them and the m10s



      The M10s scoot down the hill to get in range



      And take out 1 Panzer IV short barrel

      TURN 2 SUMMARY
      Steven's Panzerkompanie: The big panzer IV platoon pulls back. They knock out one Stuart.

      Tom's US Tank Company: M10s scoot down the hill and knock out 1 Panzer IV






      TURN 3


      The Panzers again pull back, but knock out the US 2iC.



      The first US reserves arrive!

      TURN 3 SUMMARY
      Steven's Panzerkompanie: Not much happens other than the Panzers pulling back.

      Tom's US Tank Company: Stuarts arrive and wait behind the hill near the German objectives.





      TURN 4


      Turn 4



      Panzer IVs arrive from reserve.



      Their fire combined with that from the ther Panzer IV platoon devastates the M10s.



      Destroying the whole platoon.



      With more reserves freshly arrived, 8 Stuarts race forward!



      The Panzer IVs stormtrooper on to the hill, but the Armored Rifles come out swinging.



      Bazooka and 37mm fire bails both!



      All those Stuart shots bail 1 panzer.



      The Armored Rifles nail the panzer IVs.

      TURN 4 SUMMARY
      Steven's Panzerkompanie: Panzer IVs all combine to bring down the M10s. Panzer IIIs on the right flank brace themselves as a torrent of Stuarts arrive

      Tom's US Tank Company: 8 Stuarts charge the Panzer IIIs on the right, but do no lasting harm. Armored Rifles nail the Panzer IV Kamfgruppe.





      TURN 5


      Turn 5



      8 rads arrive



      Panzer IIIs tear into the leading Stuart platoon. 1 goes up in smoke with the other 3 bailed. A panzergrenadier moves out hoping to stormtrooper and thus keep the Stuarts from racing behind the panzer IIIs.



      A succesful stormtrooper roll! The Stuarts cannot pass within 2" of the infantry and thus cannot flank the Panzers.



      US Rifles truscott trot towards the German objective



      Stuarts stand their ground and open up.

      Tom's US Tank Company: Stuarts attempt to get lucky and open up on the Panzer IIIs, but only manage to kill one.

      10/5s arrive and open up! One rifle team goes down

      Tom's US Tank Company: Though Tom isn't done for, he decides to call the game so we can play his first game of Saga!

      My Panzerkompanie was perfectly suited for killing Stuarts, so I felt a little bad about that. I actually forgot what he was running- thinking it was Armored Rifles.

      5-2 to the Panzers!
