Review - Italian Houses - BB180

By Tom Burgess

Battlefront recently released houses for the Italian/Mediterranean Theater. This was particularly good news for me as I could use these building with my WW2 Flames of War games as well as Napoleonic games since I focus on the “Peninsula” for that period.

The code is BB180 "Italian Houses."

Like the previous single level houses offered by Battlefront, these come packaged in pairs. Each house has a different door location and other subtle differences but they do look very similar.

These house models are very much like Battlefront’s  previous "Rural Farm Buildings”  BB 137 and Vietnamese Huts  BB 169 .

The finish on the buildings is very good including the interior floor, though you’ll have to paint the interior walls if you want to go to the next level of detail.

Like the previous Battlefield in a Box small buildings, each house will accommodate two medium Flames of War bases.

The look and finish of Italian Houses matches the BB 115 Italian Monastery BB 115  very well.

At about $13 US each, these Italian Houses seem to be a good value and I’m looking forward to getting good use out of them for multiple periods of history.  The only negative issue I have with these is that they are so similar and limited in design that it would be hard to build a convincing village out of these.  Hopefully Battlefront will expand the Italian building line and add a few other types to go with these, and especially a non-ruined version of the Italian Monastery!
