Team Yankee: Petrol Station Review
This is part two of my series on Battefront's new modern building line for play with Team Yankee.
Battlefield In A Box has been a very good line of accessories for Battlefront's game systems. They do not have to be used exclusively for Flames of War or Team Yankee, however, and may be used with any 15mm system.
Today we will be taking a look at the Petrol Station. The product code is BB 193 and it retails for $25.00.
The reviews will all be relatively brief since there is no painting or real assembly required. That in itself is my favorite aspect of the Battlefield in a Box; open the box and you have an automatic piece of terrain without the hassles of gluing things together and painting all for an affordable price.
The box contains the petrol station in three parts. The assembly of the pieces of obviously very easy.
The best part of the Battlefield in a Box terrain is the simplicity. Not a lot of moving parts and you could basically assemble it with your eyes closed.
A view from the back and flip side of the top.
Here are a couple of pics from the "ground view" of the terrain.
I like the model itself. It has good texture and it is a unique piece of terrain. However, I am not a fan of the colors of the Petrol Station. I have seen some pictures on Facebook of folks who painted the main building either blue or white and the effects were stunning. They did not paint the roof, doors or windows, but just added color to the main building and a little white to the pumps themselves. The blandness of the main building is a little disappointing since it seems like only varying shades of grey were used.
The model itself is great and the price is reasonable at $25.00, but I am not overwhelmed by this piece because of the color. As I stated above, if they had just used any color other than grey on the main building I think this would have been a home run. The Petrol Station is still worth the buy, but you will improve the quality by adding a little paint yourself.
