JONATHAN'S GERMAN PANZERGRENADIERS

Jonathan is a local area Richmond gamer, but has yet to play a game at my place. He's still relatively new, so like my two previous games with Chris and Joe, I walked him through a lot of decisions, pointing pros and cons that may not be obvious to him, and ensured we had a great game! And my lord it was a close one.
The Mission is No Retreat.
TURN ONE AND DEPLOYMENT
The Germans begin with 2 Panzergrenadier platoons on the board with the Panzer IVs in ambush. Objectives are in the left center near the house, and between the two woods in the bottom. The americans (from top to bottom): Rifle Platoon & Crocodiles, 81mm Mortars, Cav Recon, Bunker Busters, Rifle Platoon, 105s, Rifle Platoon.

Americans slog through the swamp.
Bunker Busters take up position on the hill.
One of the Churchills throws a track.

TURN THREE
105s rain down on the King tiger, bailing him out!
81s lay down a smoke barrage to cover the advance.
Panzergrenadiers arrive from reserve!
The king remounts and drives forward.
The king tiger stormtroopers right into a tree.

TURN FOUR
A bunker buster knocks out a panzergrenadier stand- the first German casualty!
105s slam into the Panzergrenadiers, causing no casualties but pinning them down.
The first Crocodile opens up on the defenders, pinning them down.
Under the cover of smoke, the Americans assault!
Likewise, they assault in the south flank as well.
In the south, the Americans are victorious! The defending platoon breaks taking the company commander with them.
The Germans spring their Panzer IV ambush to counter the American success. They are far away form the objective, and must brave the forest and the pioneers if the germans are to have a chance.

The Panzer IVs move into assault range with MGs blazing.
Nebelwerfers open fire.
And slam into the 155s, but do no lasting damage.
Miraculously, the Panzer IVs slam into the American defenders, wiping them out along with the company command!

US: The US assault on both flanks. Both assaults are initially succesful, pushing the defenders back GERMAN: Panzer IVs spring their ambush and charge forward, wiping out the American sucesses in the South. | |
TURN FIVE
The second US platoon moves up, attempting to catch the two Panzer IVs before their comrades free themselves!
In the North, the Americans and Crocodiles push forward.
The yanks assault the tanks, knocking one out!
But are then forced back.
Panzergrenadier reinforcements shift left.
Nebelwerfers slam into the Americans in the North.

TURN SIX
105s slam into the reserve Panzergrenadiers.
Yanks move forward to assault.
But the shooting is so successful, the Panzergrenadier reserves are annihilated. Return fire from the weak panzergrenadiers remaining, runs off the Americans!

TURN SEVEN
TWO Crocs open up on the bogged King Tiger- and it miraculously survives the hellfire!
A croc knocks out a nebelwerfer, as the cav recon pushes down the road.
The King Tiger frees itself and returns fire, knocking out a croc.
The cav recon jeeps are destroyed, but the M8 holds his ground!
The Panzer IVs open up with their MGs, and I fail 8 out of 9 saves! The Americans are wiped out!

TURN EIGHT
The mortars smoke the king tiger as the Crocs hook behind it.
The Lone M8 charges forward, 50 cal blazing and assaults the nebelwerfers, knocking one gun out!
The Panzer IVs drive forward, firing on the Bunker Busters. One Panzer IV bogs in the wood.

TURN NINE
The 155s open fire on the Panzer IVs knocking one out. The 105s join in, bailing the other!
The Panzer IVs break!
The M8 knocks out another nebelwerfer with the trusty .50 cal!
The M8 assaults, but there is fight left in the nebelwerfer commander! Both forces are now at half strength.
At the start of Jonathan's turn, the nebelwerfer commander must make a sole survivor check, which he fails. This puts him at 4 destroyed platoons with no Company Command.
