This was the first battle of our ad hoc Infantry Aces Campaign in the Eastern Front. It will become more organized moving forward, and no one has yet achieved ace status to get their first abilities. The board was 4'x4', 450 points/side. In true communist fashion, Joe and I shared duties of soviet command, while Sean lead the Finns. The mission was No Retreat with the soviets on the attack.

DEPLOYMENT AND TURN ONE
Finns in the North. Soviets in the south. Joe's company is West, mine is East. Sean's only platoon on the board is in ambush.

Joe's Company.
The finns hide like coward dogs.
While the industrious soldiers move forward ready to face their enemies!
Joe's forces prepare to cross the open ground.
The ambush is sprung, opposing Joe's advance!
Finn reserves arrive, doubling onto the objective!

TURN TWO
Steven's Company doubles to the wood.
Despite enemy troops across the open, Joe advances! For Mother Russia! Sean opens fire, scoring 11 hits- Joe saves every single one!
Sean digs in on the objective.

TURN THREE
Joe unpins and continues forward! Rifle fire knocks out Sean's 2iC.
This time, the return fire is withering.

TURN FOUR
Joe's stubborn infantry continues forward!
But is eliminated, with only the HMG remaining behind.
The Jalkavaaki begin to relocate.
As Steven's company sneaks through the woods.
The Jalkavaaki hold off on their advance to knock out Joe's remaining HMG.
But the finns are bloodthirsty! The Jakaari jump out of their foxholes, rifles blazing! Unfortunately, Sean forgets they are merely rifle teams, and Steven's SMG platoon remains unpinned. Deciding not to weather 20+ shots in defensive fire, the Finns grit their teeth and hold on.

TURN FIVE
The brave soviet SMG teams spring forth from the woods, guns blazing! Finns fall left and right.
And they then follow up with an overwhelming assault!
The Jakaari are wiped out to only the platoon leader. The Platoon leader survives his morale check, but fails sole survivor!
The Jalkavaaki are just too far away to get the objective. The Soviets start their turn holding the enemy objective.
