US 3rd ID Rifles vs HG Panzergrenadiers in Italy

It had been a while since I got a solid game of FOW in, and Dirty Jon was willing to help change that. Jon is loving his HG lists from Dogs and Devils, so I whipped up an appropriate 3rd ID force and we faced off! The mission was Front Line Domination by the I-95 crew. Blue chips are worth 3 points, red worth 2, and white worth 1. Sorry every single one of the overhead shots is off. We set up differently and I couldn't get as good of pics as usual!

TURNS SEVEN AND BEYOND

The Germans move forward and prepare to assault

The cannons press the nebelwerfers and a juicy 2 point objective!

The "right" American rifle platoon tries desperately to make it to relieve their leaderless bretheren in time. The German armor sets up in support of the pending panzergrenadier assault!

The assault comes! The Americans are pushed back, and below half. The unit breaks!

I am now down 1 rifle platoon, an assault platoon, the M10s, and the Stuarts. My 57mm guns are down to a single gun, my remaining rifle platoon is 1 away from below half, my mortars are at half, and my cannons are battered as well! I forget to count my 1 57mm gun, and incorrectly assume I am below half. I fail company morale, and it isn't until later we realize I was incorrect. However- it was CLEAR that the Germans were poised to score a victory. It would require immense amounts of luck to turn that around!

Great game to Jon- very hard fought, enjoyable game that lasted us nearly 4 hours!
