"Curse it Smithers!...You startled me...what is it now? "
"Well sir, some of the men for the special mission are out training and I thought you might want to take a peek at them is all sir..."
"Splendid idea Smithers!...off we go now...there's a good lad..."
The pair walk not too far and they discover..."There sir, that is Leftenant Willoughby leading some men of the assault group."
"Excellent! Smithers, who are those men over there to the left?"
"Those men are part of the Assault group as well. They are just taking a break having run the course already."
"Outstanding!" and Colonel Blatherington slaps Smithers on the back, "Good show...anything else?"
As Smithers catches his breath from the back slap.."Well...sir...there...is...one more...thing.."
"Well on with it old boy...what is it?"
"Well...sir...the support group ...is at the...firing range... and..."
"Excellent...hop in the jeep and lets go...come on now...no dawdling..."
"Smithers rolls his eyes and takes a deep breath and heads to the jeep. After a short drive to the outskirts of Tobruk they arrive at a makeshift firing range.
"There they are sir..."
Lets hop up into the tower and get another look..come now Smithers..."
"Things are taking shape....but we need more firepower. Those last reports showed that Jerry had mortars, medium machine guns and artillery support. We have to pull some of that together for these lads. Make a note of that Smithers. Come now....Back to HQ,. We have some more orders to issue. The Battalion Commanders are going to love me for pulling more men from them."
And the sound of the jeep driving off into the distance is lost as the machine gun fire resumes at the range....
