Sean and I decided to take a break from our usual stomping grounds of the Desert and the Eastern Front to visit a theater we often ignore: Italy! So we went with Mid War. I ran US tanks, Sean ran Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers. The mission was Fighting Withdrawal |

Sean's Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers |
Steven's US Tank Company: I load up my Stuarts and M8s on my right flank and Armored Rifles and M10s on the left. Sean's Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers: Sean puts Panzergrenadiers on his left and center. The Tiger holds the right. His 3 Stugs are placed in ambush. |
TURN 1
The right flank zips forward. |
One Stuart Platoon hangs back a bit as they navigate the plowed field. |
Armored Rifles move out behind the M10s' security section. I forgot just how slowly halftracks move on hills now! |
Cannon Stukas swoop in |
Stugs ambush down the road! |
How did we miss them?? |
The Tiger opens up on the Armored Rifles at long range. |
Leaving one halftrack and all occupants in ruin. |
The Stugs hit the M8 scotts, knocking out 2 and bailing one. |
The Stukas knock out 2 Stuarts and bail 2 more! wow! |

|
Steven's US Tank Company: Armored Rifles secure the left-most objective while the 2nd Stuart platoon crashes into and destroys the panzergrenadiers. Sean's Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers: Sean's Stugs claim a 2nd Victory point, but his Stukas can't stop me from holding an objective. |
This was a tough fight for Sean. His list was very small and elite, but was forced to stay wildly spread out. Had I played more cautiously, it would've made for a dull game, but I think I could've been methodical enough to not shed victory points. Anyhow, it was nice to get an Italy game in, and it's always a pleasure to game with Sean! |
